This is another one of my Grandma's recipes, back in the day when you baked corn bread in cast iron skillets. I also make fried cornbread from this as well and it's quick and easy.

Ingredients For grandma delleplain corn bread

  • 2
    eggs slightly beaten
  • 1 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1/4 c
    melted shortening
  • 1 1/2 c
    yellow corn meal
  • 3/4 c
    sifted flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    baking powder

How To Make grandma delleplain corn bread

    Beat eggs and milk and shortening together,

    Sift remaining ingredents together, add the egg mixture and beat well.
  • 3
    Pour into a greased shallow castiron pan and bake in hot oven 400 degrees until it shrinks from the side of pan about 29-25 minutes.
