Nothing else compares to Grandma's Banana Bread for our family. Grandma would freeze over-ripe bananas and when she had 3 she waould make this wonderful bread. Nothing was wasted. And we got a yummy treat.

Ingredients For grandma carr's banana bread

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3/4 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 2
    eggs
  • 3
    very ripe mashed bananas
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2 c
    chopped walnuts, optional

How To Make grandma carr's banana bread

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Set aside. Cream sugar and shortening. Stir in eggs, and then add bananas and vanilla. Add the set aside flour, mix well. Stir in nuts, if using. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.
