Traditionally, decorative designs were often stamped in the top of gingerbread.

Ingredients For gingerbread

  • 1 c
    honey
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1/8 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground licorice
  • 1 3/4 c
    dry bread crumbs
  • 1 Tbsp
    anise seeds

How To Make gingerbread

  • 1
    Heat honey in top of of double boiler, add spices (except anise) and stir to blend
  • 2
    Add bread crumbs and mix thoroughly
  • 3
    Cover and cook on medium heat for 15 mintues
  • 4
    Sprinkle anise seeds on top and press gently into loaf.
  • 5
    Cover and refrigerate for two hours. Serve at room temperature in thin slices.
