I found this recipe in a Gold Medal Cookbook (the kind that you buy in the ckout line). It is now my daughter's recipe. She makes these and they melt in your mouth. You will see why.

Ingredients For french breakfast puffs

1 1/2 call-purpose flour

1 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspsalt

1/4 Tbspground nutmeg

1/3 cshortening
-
1/2 csugar
-
1egg
-
1/2 cmilk
-
1/2 csugar

1 tspcinnamon

1/2 cbutter or margarine, melted (butter is best)
How To Make french breakfast puffs

1Heat oven to 350F. Grease 12 muffin cups with Pam cooking spray.

2In small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt,and nutmeg. in large bowl, stir shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and egg until mixed. Stir in flour mixture alternately with milk. divide batter evenly among muffin cups.

3Bake 20-25 minutes or until tops are light golden brown and bottoms are golden brown.

4Meanwhile, in shallow dish mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Place melted butter in another shallow dish. Immediately roll hot puffs in melted butter, then in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Serve warm.
