Ingredients For french breakfast muffins

  • MUFFIN MIX
  • 1/3 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1 1/2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • TOPPING
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    butter

How To Make french breakfast muffins

    Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the muffin tins. Mix the shortening, sugar, and egg.

    Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.

    Add in the milk.

    Mix until combined.

    Fill muffin cups 2/3 full.

    Bake 20-25 minutes.

    As the muffins are baking, combine the sugar and cinnamon for the topping and melt the butter.

    Immediately after baking roll the muffins in melted butter.

    Then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mix. Serve hot.
