Ingredients For corn bread

1 cyellow corn meal

1 call purpose flour

1 TBSP + ½ tspbaking powder

1/3 cwhite sugar

1/3 cbrown sugar

1 tspsalt
-
1/3 cbutter, melted and cooled

1 lgegg
-
1 cwhole milk
-
1 tsphoney
-
1 tspwater
How To Make corn bread

1In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients, you may need to break up any clumps of brown sugar with your fingers.

2In a 4 cup measuring cup or medium bowl whisk the milk, egg and butter until smooth.

3Add the wet ingredients from the measuring cup or medium bowl to the dry ingredients and stir 3 or 4 times just to get the liquid mixed in. Allow to rest 10-15 minutes.

4Preheat oven to 400°F, for an 8 or 9 inch cast iron skillet or metal cake pan season with a dab of butter and allow it to heat in the oven. If using a glass baking dish, spray with non stick spray and set aside.

5In a small bowl, mix the honey and water until evenly incorporated and set aside.

6After the mixture has rested mix once then transfer to the baking vessel of choice, carefully if using a hot pan.

7Spread mixture evenly and use a basting brush or drizzle the honey mixture over the top, not enough to saturate just enough to evenly coat it.

8Bake for about 20 minutes or until the top is a rich golden brown. Allow to cool for about 5 minutes before slicing.
