My mother-in-law made this bread as a special treat and gave every family member a loaf at Christmas.

Ingredients For cinnamon bread

  • COMBINE & THEN COOL TO LUKEWARM
  • 1 c
    milk (scalded)
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • DISSOLVE
  • 1 pkg
    yeast
  • 2 Tbsp
    warm water
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • COMBINE MILK MIXTURE & YEAST THEN ADD EGG
  • 1
    egg
  • ADD
  • 4 c
    flour
  • SWIRL MIXTURE:
  • 2 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon

How To Make cinnamon bread

    Combine milk, sugar and butter in small saucepan and heat until scalded.

    While milk mixture is cooling down, dissolve yeast pkg. in 2 T. warm water with 1 teaspoon sugar.

    In large bowl, combine the cooled milk mixture and yeast mixture.

    Add egg and beat well.

    Add 4 cups flour. Turn out onto lightly floured board. Kneed for 2 minutes.

    Allow dough to rise 15 minutes.

    Roll dough into rectangle about 1/4" thick. Sprinkle swirl mixture evenly on top of rolled dough.

    Roll dough up and turn ends under. Place in a greased loaf pan.

    Let rise 1 hour.
  • Finished Loaf of Cinnamon Bread

    Bake 40 minutes. Brush the top with melted butter (Optional). Take out of pan and cool on wire rack.
