FROM HELEN'S PANTRY Want something besides banana bread? This cherry nut bread is good, if you have fresh or frozen cherries. it will work with maraschino cherries also.

Ingredients For cherry nut bread

  • 2 c
    flour sifted
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 1
    egg beaten
  • 1/2 c
    nuts chopped
  • 1- (12) fl oz
    can evaporated milk
  • 1/2 c
    cherry juice or water
  • 1/3 c
    dried cherries chopped

How To Make cherry nut bread

  • 1
    Sift dry ingredients together, add nuts.
  • 2
    Mix all liquids together, add cherries. Blend into dry ingredients just until moistened.

    Bake in a 9 by 5 greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 60 minutes.
