My family loves these and the cake mix gives them a yummy flavor. Feel free to experiment with different flavors - that's part of the fun! Also, if you have a bread machine it can be used to make the dough.

Ingredients For cake mix cinnamon rolls

  • 2 pkg
    active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 pkg
    cake mix, yellow or white
  • 4 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 3 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    butter, softened
  • 1
    8 ounce package of cream cheese
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make cake mix cinnamon rolls

    1.In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes. 2. In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture with the cake mix and 3 cups of the flour; stir to combine. Add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. 3.Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 30 minutes. 4.Deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a 10x16 inch rectangle. spread the softened butter over the rectangle; sprinkle on brown sugar and cinnamon. Feel free to add any sort of nuts you like at this point or even raisins, chopped apples, etc. Starting from one of the long sides, roll up the rectangle and cut into 1 inch wide rolls. Place rolls in a 9X13 baking pan that has been sprayed with non stick spray. Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in volume, about 30 minutes. Bake in oven at 375 about 20 minutes or until rolls are a light golden color.

    While rolls are baking mix together 1/2 cup softened butter, 8 ounces of cream cheese, vanilla and 2 cups of powdered sugar until smooth and well blended. Spread over rolls while they are still warm from the oven but not HOT.
