I make this every Christmas morning...It has become a tradition! On Mother's Day this year, we were invited to my son's for breakfast. He was cooking! I decided to contribute the butter ring to round out his feast. I tried to download a pic of this, but wasnt successful...too bad..its so pretty!

Ingredients For breakfast butter ring

  • 1 pkg
    active dry yeast, dissolve in 1/4 c warm water
  • MIX TOGETHER
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3 c
    flour
  • CUT IN
  • 1 stick
    butter (not margarine)
  • COMBINE
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 3
    egg yolks

How To Make breakfast butter ring

  • 1
    ADD TO FLOUR MIXTURE, ADD YEAST MIXTURE. MIX WELL. DOUGH WILL BE STICKY. FORM INTO A BALL AND COVER BOWL WITH PLASTIC WRAP AND REFRIGERATE OVERNIGHT. DIVIDE IN HALF AND THEN INTO THIRDS. FORM EACH THIRD INTO A ROPE AND BRAID TOGETHER. FORM A RING. LET RISE ON GREASED PAN FOR 2 HOURS. BAKE @ 350 DEGREES 30 MINUTES WHILE STILL WARM BLOP JAM OR PRESERVES ON TOP, DRIZZLE WITH POWDERED SUGAR GLAZE AND SPRINKLE WITH SLIVERED ALMONDS.
