This is the best banana bread I've ever eaten and it's the buttermilk that is the secret. When my kids see that our bananas are past their prime, they ask me to make a loaf of this fantastic bread!

1 3/4 call purpose flour

1 3/4 cwhole wheat flour

1 3/4 csugar

1 tspsalt

2 tspbaking soda

1 tspbaking powder

1 tspcinnamon

1/8 tspnutmeg

2 cbananas, mashed

4eggs
-
3/4 cbutter, melted

2/3 cbuttermilk

1 tspvanilla extract

1 cpecans, toasted and chopped (optional)
How To Make best buttermilk banana bread

1Preheat oven to 325°F. Prepare two 9x5-inch loaf pans.

2Combine dry ingredients (first 8 ingredients) in a large bowl.

3Combine wet ingredients (next 5 ingredients) in a medium bowl.

4Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and combine just until flour is moistened. Add nuts if using and combine (do not overmix).
