I didn't realize how many of my Mom's recipes I had until I started putting them in my cookbook. This was another holiday favorite.

Ingredients For banana nut bread

1/4 ccrisco shortening (melted)

1/2 csugar (plus a lttle tad)

1 lgwell beaten egg

2 Tbspwater

1-1/2 cmashed bananas

1-1/2 csifted flour

2 tspbaking powder
-
1/2 tspsalt

1/2 tspbaking soda
-
1 tspvanilla
-
1/2 cchopped nuts (pecans)
How To Make banana nut bread

1In a large bowl cream melted shortening & sugar; add egg and mix well. In another bowl combine water and bananas. In another bowl combine all dry ingredients.

2Alternating with dry mixture and banana mixture add into the cream mixture. Mix thoroughly after each addition.

3Add vanilla and nuts; pour into flour & greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour; or less watch to make sure you don't over bake.
