This was my Mom's recipe and I make it whenever I have a couple of over ripe bananas.

1/2 cshortening

1 csugar

2 lgeggs

1 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspsalt

2 cflour, sifted

1/4 tspbaking soda

1 cmashed bananas

1/2 csour milk*

1/2 cwalnuts, coarsely chopped
How To Make banana bread

1Cream shortening, then add sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time and beat well after each addition. In another bowl, mix dry ingredients. In a third bowl, mix bananas and sour milk. Add dry ingredients alternately with banana mixture to shortening/sugar mix. Stir in nuts and pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

2*Add a small amount of vinegar to fresh milk to curdle.
