This is my go-to garlic bread recipe. Feel free to kick it up, twist it and make it your own! I've listed the basic recipe; sometimes I'll add 1/2 C of shredded cheese to make garlic-cheese bread, sometimes I'll add a few teaspoons of pesto, sometimes a teaspoon of onion powder or kick it up with a pinch of red pepper flakes. However, there's nothing wrong with the "plain" basic recipe!

Ingredients For toasted garlic bread

  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    mayonnaise
  • 1/4 tsp
    sage, dried
  • 3 clove
    garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    oregano, dried (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1
    loaf of french bread
  • OPTIONAL ADD-INS (ADD ONE OR MORE TO TASTE)
  • 1/2 c
    cheese, shredded (your choice)
  • 2-3 tsp
    pesto
  • 1 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1 pinch
    red pepper flakes (could use red pepper sauce)

How To Make toasted garlic bread

  • 1
    Preheat broiler. Split French bread loaf horizontally. Left over hotdog or hamburger buns also work!

    Mix together spread ingredients, including any and all mix-in choices. Mix well.

    Spread mixture on cut-side of bread. Broil for 5 minutes under oven broiler - watch carefully as it can burn quickly and it is very sad.
