How To Make sweet italian sausage and basil bread
-
1Remove sausage from casing and crumble. Place in skillet and brown on medium heat removing all pink. Take out and drain on a few paper towels.
-
2In a medium bowl, add the softened cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, basil, and sausage. Use a spoon to mix together well. Note: if using dried spices, rub them in the palm of your hand to bring out their aroma.
-
3Take a baking sheet and place your pizza dough on it. Form a rectangle. Add the mixture evenly onto the pizza dough leaving a 1 inch border mixture free.
-
4Roll the dough tightly to make a "Jelly roll" . Press the seam and close the sides so the mixture will be sealed inside. Next turn the roll over so the seam is on the bottom.
-
5Whisk the egg just enough so it is mixed well. Brush it over the loaf.
-
6Place baking sheet in preheated 350* oven and bake for 25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown. Bring out of oven and let cool for about 10 minutes before slicing the loaf.
