I just recently have discovered the joy of a bread machine for "mixing" the dough. This recipe is based on using a bread machine to mix your dough, but the dough can also be formed by hand, but takes longer.

Ingredients For martharaydeen's seasoned hamburger buns

  • 1 1/4 c
    milk, slightly warmed
  • 1 md
    egg, beaten
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, softened
  • 3 tsp
    wheat gluten (can leave out if gluten allergies)
  • 2 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 2 tsp
    onion flakes, dehydrated
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    active dry yeast
  • 1/4 c
    white sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3/4 c
    wheat flour
  • pinch
    sesame or poppy seeds
  • few Tbsp
    melted butter or beaten egg

How To Make martharaydeen's seasoned hamburger buns

    Mix all ingredients except for the seeds, melted butter (or eggwash) and put into bread machine on "dough" setting.

    When cycle is complete, turn out onto floured surface. Cut dough in half and roll each half out to a 1/2" to 3/4" thick circle (depending on how thick you want). Cut each half into six 3 1/2" rounds with inverted glass as a cutter.

    Place on greased baking sheet far apart and brush with melted butter or eggwhite wash. Cover with plastic wrap (loosely) and let rise until doubled, about one hour. top with sesame or poppy seeds if you like... Bake at 350° for 9 minutes. Note: Oven temperatures vary so check after 9 minutes to see if done. (some ovens will need up to 15 minutes)
