because of my mother's wonderful heritage - (Swedish, Danish and Norwegian) we grow up with many yummy tasty meals, sweets, breads, cakes, etc... this was one of my favorite childhood treats - for we always had way to many apples in fall -

1/2 cbutter, softened

1 csugar

2 lgeggs

1 tspvanilla extract

2 call purpose flour

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 tspground cinnamon

1/2 tspginger

1/4 tspnutmeg

1/3 cbuttermilk

2 cchopped apples
-
1/3 cchopped walnuts
- TOPPING
-
1/3 call purpose flour
-
2 Tbspsugar
-
2 Tbspbrown sugar

1/2 tspground cinnamom

3 Tbspbutter, softened
How To Make mom's norwegian apple bread

1In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

2Combine flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

3Fold in apple and nuts.

4Pour into a greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pan.

5For topping, combine the first four ingredients; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter.

6Bake at 350° for 55-60 minutes or until bread tests done. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Yield: 1 loaf.
