Ingredients For louise's cornbread

  • 2 c
    self-rising cornmeal(white)
  • 3 Tbsp
    self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • add enough water to make the batter soupy...once batter is mixed let sit and do not stir.

How To Make louise's cornbread

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Add 1 heaping tablespoon of shortening to cast iron skillet and place in oven until very hot.

    Without stirring cornbread batter, pour into hot skillet and bake until golden brown.
