Ingredients For cheese and chive damper

  • 2 1/2 cups
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 cup
    sharp cheddar, grated
  • 2 Tbsp
    fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 1/4 cups
    buttermilk
  • 1 lg
    egg

How To Make cheese and chive damper

    Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mat; set aside.

    Combine flour, baking powder, cheddar, chives and garlic in a bowl. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add buttermilk and egg to the ell, and mix well with a fork just until the dough is moistened and it beings to form a slightly sticky dough.

    Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until the dough is smooth. Shape dough into a ball and place in center of prepared baking sheet. Flatten dough ball into a disc. Score the dough round into six wedges. Sprinkle the top with a light flour dusting.

    Place baking sheet in oven, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
