I made this using Porridge Oats which is a mix of old fashioned oats, oat bran, flax seed and a few other woody but good for you things. I still added the wheat germ and used Splenda for the honey. It came out great, rose beautifully, has a nice chewy thin crust and a soft, fluffy, delicious inside. This one is a keeper for sure.

Ingredients For bread machine oatmeal bread

  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    honey
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 2/3 c
    quick-cooking oats
  • 2 1/3 c
    bread flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    wheat germ (optional)
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp
    active dry yeast (1 package)

How To Make bread machine oatmeal bread

  • 1
    Put ingredients into the bread machine according to manufacturer's directions.

    Set machine to bread or dough as you prefer.

    If dough then just remove when complete. Shape into a loaf, place in a bread pan to rise for another 20-30 mins. Bake in a 350f oven until lightly golden and bread sounds hollow when thumped with your finger.
