    emmentaler or swiss cheese
  • 1 lb
    loaf white bread, thinly sliced
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 pinch
    white pepper
  • 1 pinch
    freshly grated nutmeg

How To Make bread & cheese pudding (ramequin)

    Preheat oven to 400ºF (205ºC). Butter a 9"x13" baking dish; set aside.

    Cut cheese into slices slightly larger than the bread slices.

    In a medium bowl, beat eggs; beat in milk, salt, white pepper and nutmeg.

    Arrange bread slices in buttered baking dish, slightly overlapping the slices. Layer cheese slices on top of the bread slices. Pour egg mixture over bread and cheese. Bake 30 minutes or until top is browned and crisp.
