Ingredients For white bread

  • 2 c
    milk, scalded
  • 2 tsp
    scant, tsp, salt
  • 1 pkg
    yeast
  • 6 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    shortening
  • 1/4 c
    warm water

How To Make white bread

  • 1
    Scald milk while yeast is soaking in warm water.

    Add hot milk to shortening, sugar and salt.

    Beat in a couple cups of flour into hot milk mixture with electric beater to cool down the milk. When fairly cool, add yeast and rest of flour (up to 5 3/4 c. to 6 1/4 c.)and knead for at least 10 minutes.

    Let rise until double. Punch down. Let rise again and punch down (if desired). Shape into loaves, rolls, bus or whatever. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
