This recipe for scone bread has been a go to for many years. I have fond memories enjoying it as a child alongside a bowl of chili or on a plate of Chicken Divan.

Ingredients For sydney’s scone bread

2 call-purpose flour

1/4 csugar

3 tspbaking powder

1/4 tspsalt

1/4 ccold butter
-
1 canevaporated milk

1 lgegg
How To Make sydney’s scone bread

1Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

2In bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; blend well. Using pastry blender or your fingers (I find this works better) work the butter into the flour until mixture is crumbly.

3Combine milk and egg and stir just until flour disappears.

4Knead 5 or 6 times on a floured surface until it forms a ball. Shape into a disc, about 1 inch thick.

5Cut into 8 wedges, leave the wedges touching, as is.

6Sprinkle top with sugar and bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.
