The American Woman's Cook Book 1946 This was my ex-husband's grandmother's cookbook. Beside this recipe she wrote "GOOD, use 1/2 recipe". This is the recipe for a whole batch. I sure do miss her.

Ingredients For refrigerator rolls

3/4 cshortening
-
1 cboiling water or scalded milk

2eggs beaten
-
3/4 csugar
-
2 tspsalt
-
1 ccold water
-
2cakes yeast (see note below)

1/2 clukewarm water

7 1/2 csifted flour
How To Make refrigerator rolls

1Combine shortening and boiling water; stir until shortening is melted.

2Combine eggs, sugar and salt and beat in cold water.

3Soften yeast in lukewarm water.

4Combine the 3 mixtures and add flour.

5Cover and chill overnight. Shape, let rise and bake as for standard rolls. Makes 36

6The instructions for baking standard rolls says to bake in a hot oven(425) for 15 to 20 minutes.
