This recipe never fails and it's really good for fruit pies. I have had this for many years, and it has been my favorite pie crust since I've had it.

Ingredients For penny pastry pie crust

1 cup flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup shortening

3 - 4 tablespoons ice water

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup flour
How To Make penny pastry pie crust

1Combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. ( I just use a fork.) Add ice water to moisten flour.

2Form into a ball. Chill for about an hour. Roll out and fit into a 9-inch pie pan.

3Soften butter and spread over bottom of pastry. Sprinkle sugar and flour over butter. Bake at 400 degrees until pastry is brown.
