My Nanny(grandmother) made these look so easy, The smell of these baking was irresistable and we couldn't wait to be called to the table on those Sunday dinners!

Ingredients For nanny's yeast rolls

  • 1 c
    warm water (bath temp) not hot
  • 1 pkg
    active dry yeast
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1
    egg

How To Make nanny's yeast rolls

    Mix the package of yeast into the cup of warm water by stirring gently in a bowl.mix in the egg, gently, dont scramble .set aside
  • 2
    Sift the flour , sugar and salt well,slowly adding into the egg and yeast/water mixture. cover this with a dish towel and sit in a warm place to let rise for about 2 hrs.

    Uncover and roll out into a circle, cut into rolls, fold each over and place fold side down on baking sheet. Cover and let rise again, about 45min -an hour. Bake @ 400 degrees till golden brown (about 25 min. Serve hot with butter and preserves! YUMMMY
