I don't really have a story but my mom loved to make these to eat with Fried chicken and cabbage. I think they go great with just about anything.

Ingredients For mom's hot water cornbread

1 cself-rising buttermilk corn meal

1 call purpose flour

1 Tbspsugar

2 lgeggs
-
3/4 cmilk

2/3 cvegetable oil divided
How To Make mom's hot water cornbread

1Combine the cornmeal,flour and sugar in a large bowl

2In a medium bowl, beat eggs. Beat in milk and 1/3c of the vegetable oil.

3Create a well in the dry ingredients and mix in the liquid mixture stirring until combined but not too smooth.

4Heat 2tbs of oil in a large skillet(cast iron if you have one)over medium-high heat.Scoop out large spoonfuls of your batter and place in the skillet. Flatten the batter into 3-inch circles like making a pancake. Fry each side 1-2 minutes each side. Keep adding oil as needed to fry the remaining batter. Drain and enjoy!
