This is a very quick bread if you want it for dinner in a hurry and its delicious and goes with any kind of meal.Legend has it the slash on top of the loaf allows the fairies to escape.

Ingredients For irish soda bread

1/2 craisins
-
1/2 chot brewed black tea
-
2 tspcaraway seeds
-
1 cflour
-
3/4 cwhole wheat flour

3/4 tspbaking soda
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
3/4 cmilk or buttermilk

2 Tbsppacked brown sugar
-
1 Tbspbutter or oil
How To Make irish soda bread

1Combine raisins with tea in small bowl or cup and let soak for 10 minutes.Then drain.

2Crush caraway seeds. You can omit if you like.

3Whisk all purpose flour,wheat flour,baking soda and salt.

4Stir in raisins and caraway seeds.

5Mix milk, brown sugar and butter. Gradually stir into flour mixture just till dry ingredients are moistened.

6Knead dough a couple of times not alot so it will stay tender.

7Shape into a ball and place in greased pie plate or baking sheet.

8Flatten to about 2 inches.

9Make 1/2 inch deep crisscross slash on top of bread.

10Bake at 425 for 30-40 minutes.When toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
