guinness quick bread

This is an EASY, 4-ingredient (if you use self-rising flour), hearty, quick bread; made with Guinness Draught (or any other dark beer you have on hand.) Goes well with anything from main entrees to soups and stews. Enjoy!

Ingredients For guinness quick bread

  • 3 c
    self rising flour (sifted twice) or regular all purpose flour (sifted twice) note: measure after sifting
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder (omit if using self-rising flour)
  • 1 tsp
    salt (omit if using self-rising flour)
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 can
    or bottle (14.9 ounce) of guinness draught (or other dark beer)
  • 1/2 c
    melted, unsalted butter - divided (1/4 cup for the batter and 1/4 cupfor pouring over the top before baking)

How To Make guinness quick bread

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare a large loaf pan (or 2 smaller ones) by spraying lightly with oil (like Pam Spray or Baker's Joy)

    REMEMBER TO DOUBLE SIFT THE FLOUR – either the self-rising or AP flour. NOTE: measure after sifting
  • Dry ingredients mixed together with 1/2 the melted butter and the can/bottle of beer.

    Mix the dry ingredients, 1/4 cup melted butter, and beer together. Pour into a prepared loaf pan
  • 4
    Pour the remaining 1/4 cup of melted butter over mixture; and then bake 1 hour.
  • If you cut it without cooling it down a bit, the slices tend to crumble.

    Remove to a wire rack and let cool for a few minutes. Turn the loaf out and slice at least 1” pieces. Serve warm, with or without spreading on softened butter or honey. Enjoy!
