I derived this recipe from Mama Dee's Little pup hush puppies...I didn't have any SR cornmeal and I really wanted some corn in there....thanks for the inspiration!!! So good I ate them for breakfast with a little butter on the side :)

Ingredients For corny huspuppies

  • 1 c
    self-rising flour
  • 1 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • 4 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    minced onion
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2
    12 oz cans niblet corn
  • cooking oil

How To Make corny huspuppies

  • 1
    Mix first 7 ingredients together in bowl.

    Heat oil in deep fryer or deep boiler on stove. Turn oil to high and then reduce heat to medium to medium high
  • 3
    Use 2 spoons to drop small balls of batter into hot oil. Drop a couple of hushpuppies in oil at a time. When browned remove from oil with a slotted spoon to drain on plate, paper towels, etc.
