Need a new dressing for your holiday dinner? Try this Southern cornbread dressing. It's an easy, no-frills, delicious recipe. The seasoning is in perfect proportion to the dish and is filled with Thanksgiving flavors. Cooking the fresh onions and celery add more flavor too. Teresa does not include a recipe for cornbread so use your favorite recipe. We used a boxed mix for this recipe and the results were great (and it was easy to prepare). A nice addition to any holiday menu.

Ingredients For cornbread dressing

2 cchopped celery
-
2 cchopped onion
-
2 Tbspsage

1 Tbsppoultry seasoning

1/2 cbutter
-
2eggs, beaten

8 ccrumbled cornbread

1 qtchicken broth (32 oz)

1 tspsalt
-
1 tsppepper
How To Make cornbread dressing

1Melt butter in a heavy skillet; add celery and onion. Saute 5 minutes or until onion and celery are tender.

2In a large mixing bowl combine crumbled cornbread and broth.

3Season with salt, pepper, sage, and poultry seasoning.

4Stir in celery and onions.

5Add eggs and mix well.

6Pour into a large baking dish.

7Cover and bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Remove cover during last 15 minutes of cook time to brown top.
