This recipe is older than Dirt, (well, kinda-sorta) I was raised on "Cheese Toast" as a small child, it was a simple breakfast food or Lunch, and I still enjoy it today as a great grandma. I now share this & the memory with My Grand-kids. Note: cooking time was omited as they don't have short minutes. So watch your broiler

  • 1 Slice
    bread any flavor (your choice)
  • 1 Slice
    american cheese
  • tip: (i make 2 slices per person)

How To Make cheese toast by freda

    Turn on your Broiler, to High, Yes I said the Broiler.

    Take your bread, top with a slice of cheese broken into strips, Now, lay the cheese across your bread.

    Place your bread on oven grates, just under your broiler. Broil only a minutie or so, just til cheese bubbles and toast browns. (Be careful not to burn it) Remove from Broiler & oven. Top with a pat of butter to melt, and Enjoy Hot right from the broiler. Served In My family for Many many years as long as I can remember, well over 50 Plus years.
