This is a wonderful banana bread. I got it from my very first cookbook from 1970.

Ingredients For banana bread

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 2
    eggs
  • 3
    crushed bananas
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 c
    pecans or walnuts

How To Make banana bread

  • 1
    Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs, bananas, flour, soda, salt and pecans, beating after each addition. Place in greased and floured loaf pan. Bake for about 1 hour at 350 degrees. Recipe does not say what size pan but a 9 x 5 will work.
