Ingredients For simple sweet cornbread

  • 1 c
    yellow cornmeal
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 4-6 Tbsp
    sugar, adjust to your sweetness liking
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    milk or buttermilk, your preference
  • 1
    large egg
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil

How To Make simple sweet cornbread

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add wet ingredients and whisk till smooth about 30 seconds

    Pour batter into a greased 8 inch square pan and bake about 21 minutes. That's it.

    Variations: for corn muffins, pour batter into lined muffin cups and bake about 16 minutes
