This recipe was one of my favorites passed down from my mother. Whether on a rainy day with a hot cup of warm cocoa, or waking up to eat for breakfast, this bread is an instant classic!

Ingredients For mama's banana bread

1 3/4 cflour

2/3 csugar
-
1/2 tspsalt

1 tspbaking powder

1/4 tspbaking soda

1/2 cbutter, softened

2eggs, beaten
-
1 cmashed bananas (2 medium ripe bananas)

1/2 cpecans or walnuts, chopped (optional)
How To Make mama's banana bread

1Preheat oven to 350*. Grease and flour 9x5 loaf pan. In large bowl, use a whisk and mix all dry ingredients.

2With a pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs. With a fork, stir in mashed bananas & eggs until blended. (Also add nuts here if desired).

3Spread batter evenly in pan. Bake 55 minutes to 1 hour until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
