Ingredients For healthy and delicious chocolate chip muffins

  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    unsweetened applesauce
  • 2
    eggs, or 4 egg whites, lightly beaten
  • 1 c
    skim milk
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 bag
    (60% or more cacao) dark chocolate chips

How To Make healthy and delicious chocolate chip muffins

    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

    Spray pan with cooking spray. I use bakers joy with flour added.

    Mix the flours, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl.

    In a large bowl stir together the applesauce, eggs, milk, brown sugar, and vanilla.

    Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and mix until just until combined. Careful not to overmix.

    Add chocolate chips.

    Fill each muffin cup to about 3/4 full.

    Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of muffin comes out clean.

    Place muffin pan on a wire rack to cool for about 5 minutes.

    Gently remove the muffins from the pan and place them on the wire rack to cool.
