This is like Bisquick mix ..Makes excellent pancakes,biscuits,Crepes,,Coffee cakes..This keeps in the fridge for several weeks in a glass jar lightly covered... I found this in a old cookbook from 1959..I LOVE old cookbooks

Ingredients For ever ready blend

  • 5 lb
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 c
    double acting baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp
    salt
  • 3 1/2 c
    shortening

How To Make ever ready blend

    Mix flour ,baking powder and salt together...

    Sift all together into a large mixing bowl..

    Cut shortening into the dry ingredients with a pastry blender or with 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse meal...

    Store in covered glass jars or crockery bowl for several weeks.. I store mine in the Fridge ..
