These are the best sweet muffins that can be spread with anything you can think of. I love them with my homemade blackberry jam! 8)

Ingredients For brown sugar muffins

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt

How To Make brown sugar muffins

  • 1
    In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients and add to the creamed mixture just until they are blended.

    Fill paper lined muffin cups 3/4th's full. Bake at 400 for 16-20 minutes or until center tests done. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack. 1 dozen.
