This has been a family recipe for years. I use a mini muffin pan and it is like having doughnut holes.I usually double this recipe and get about 3 dozen mini muffins

Ingredients For baked apple doughnuts

1 1/2 cflour
-
1 3/4 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspnutmeg
-
1/2 csugar
-
1/3 cshortening (i use butter flavored crisco)

1egg beaten
-
1/4 cmilk
-
1/2 cgrated raw apple
- TOPPING
-
1/3 csugar
-
1 tspcinnamon
-
1/2 cmelted butter
How To Make baked apple doughnuts

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees

2Sift together First 4 ingredients and set aside

3Combine shortening, egg,milk, and grated raw apple in bowl. Mix.

4Add to sifted dry ingredients and mix until blended.

5Spoon into greased muffin tins, filling about 2/3 full.

6Bake at 350 degrees fro 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan immediately.

7Mix remaining sugar and cinnamon. Roll doughnuts in melted butter and or margarine, then in sugar and cinnamon mixture. Serve warm or wrap and pack for lunch when cool.
