I always loved it when Daddy would make this bread, it is so good. You can slice it and spread butter on it and toast it for breakfast. Delicious. You can use this same recipe to make cinnamon rolls. After you roll the dough up cut slices about 3/4 of an inch down length of roll. Place rolls into greased cake pans, cover and let rise until doubled. Bake at 375 approximately 20 minutes or until browned and tester comes out free of dough. Let cool about 15 minutes and then coat each roll with icing. You can melt vanilla prepared frosting in the microwave 30 seconds at a time, to use for glaze

2 pkgactive dry yeast

1 Tbspsugar

1 clukewarm water

1 cmilk
-
6 Tbspshortening
-
1/2 csugar
-
1 tspsalt

3eggs, beaten

7 cflour
- FILLING

1/2 cbutter, melted

3eggs, beaten

1/2 lbbrown sugar

1/2 lbraisins
-
cinnamon, ground
-
1 cfinely chopped pecans (optional)

1 canapple pie filling, chopped (optional)
How To Make daddy's (tommy safar) raisin bread

1Dissolve yeast and 1 Tablespoon sugar in lukewarm water, set aside.

2Scald milk, add shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm.

3Add 2 cups flour to milk mixture to make a batter. Add yeast mixture. Add 3 beaten eggs and beat well. Add remaining flour to make a soft dough. Knead lightly on floured surface then put in greased bowl. Cover and place in warm area and let rise until doubled, around 2 hours.

4Punch down and place on floured surface. Roll out into rectangle until about 3/8 inch thick. Melt 1/2 cup butter and spread over dough. Beat 3 eggs and spread over dough. Sprinkle brown sugar on dough. Sprinkle cinnamon liberally on dough. Sprinkle raisins over dough. Sprinkle pecans and/or apples over dough, Roll up and place in greased angel food cake pan. Cover and let rise an hour or more until dough reaches top of pan.

5Preheat oven to 375. Place bread on center rack and bake about an hour until browned and tester comes out dough free. Cool 15 minutes then remove from pan and brush with melted butter, if desired.
