I couldn't find my favorite Banana Bread Recipe, so I made this one! Thought I better jot it down before I forget what I did! Hope you like it, we enjoyed it very much!

Ingredients For banana bread

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt (sea salt)
  • 1/2 c
    butter (real butter)
  • 1/2 c
    white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    packed light brown sugar
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 3
    large overripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 c
    applesauce, cinnamon (motts)
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla (mexican, brown)
  • OPTIONAL TOPPING
  • 1/3 c
    packed light brown sugar
  • 1/8 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter (real butter)
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon

How To Make banana bread

    In medium bowl cream butter and sugars together. Then add in mashed bananas, beaten eggs, applesauce & vanilla. Mix well.

    Make well in dry ingredients and pour wet ingredients into well and mix together only until all ingredients are incorporated. Over mixing will cause the bread to be dry!

    Bread does not rise much, so you can fill to within 1/2 inch or so of the top of the loaf pan. Add topping if you want at this time (although it is not needed).

    Check doneness with toothpick in several places to make sure the bread is done. Allow to set in pan for 10 minutes, then (if you are sure it is done) remove from pan and allow to cool completely (if you can before you eat it all!)
