I started using cast iron skillets and came across a great recipe for original corn bread.

Ingredients For cast iron corn bread

  • CAST IRON SKILLET!
  • 1 1/4 c
    corn meal
  • 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/3 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 c
    honey
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 2
    eggs
  • 5 tsp
    butter

How To Make cast iron corn bread

  • Cast Iron Corn Bread

    Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Create well. In a cast iron skillet, melt butter. While butter slowly melts, mix wet ingredients. Pour wet into the dry ingredients and add melted butter. Slowly fold over the dry and wet ingredients, small lumps are ok. Then pour into the cast iron skillet and place into a 350° oven for 20-25 minutes. Stick a toothpick into the center to check for doneness.
