Ingredients For southern buttermilk biscuits

2 call-purpose flour

2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1/4 cshortening
-
3/4 cbuttermilk
How To Make southern buttermilk biscuits

1In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

2Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Stir in buttermilk.

4Knead dough gently.

5Roll out to 1/2-inch thickness.

6Cut with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

7Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet.

8Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
