These biscuits are a great accompaniment to ham or any type of soup/stew. Easy to make - nice and spicy.

Ingredients For peppery cheddar biscuits

2 call purpose flour
-
1 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/4 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspcoarsely ground black pepper, divided

2 Tbspchilled butter, cut into small pieces

3/4 csharp cheddar cheese, shredded
-
3/4 cfat-free milk
-
vegetable oil spray
-
1egg white, slightly beaten
How To Make peppery cheddar biscuits

1Combine flour, baking powder, salt and 1/4 tsp. black pepper in a large bowl.

2Using a pastry cutter, mix in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add cheese and toss well.

3Add milk and stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead 4-5 times. Roll dough out to 1/2 " thick and then using a 2" biscuit cutter, cut into rounds.

4Place biscuits on parchment lined baking sheets and brush with the egg white. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 tsp. black pepper on top of each biscuit.

5Bake biscuits at 425 degrees F for approx. 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
