not yo mama's biscuits
(1 rating)
These biscuits were just the perfect bread to go wtih our smothered steak and potato dish we had for lunch today. I made a creamy burgandy gravy to smother the steak in and the gravy was excellent served over these biscuits. I started out with the basic Bisquick biscuit recipe and added spices and cheese to make this wonderful biscuit. It's over the top good! You don't have to use the spices I used or the cheese I selected. Make this biscuit to your liking with the ingredients you love. My photo's Hope you enjoy!

How To Make not yo mama's biscuits
-
1Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Coat iron skillet or pan with olive oil, a little more than you really want for just coating the pan. You will use excess to brush tops of biscuits. Let skillet or pan heat in oven while preheating. Just don't burn the grease.
-
2Combine biscuit mix, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, italian seasoning and chives; whisk to combine; add pepper jack cheese and toss to coat with dry mixture. Add milk and stir until combined and forms a stiff dough.
-
3On a lightly floured surface, pat dough out and cut with biscuit cutter.
-
4Remove skillet/pan from oven; sprinkle with a little Italian Seasnoing if desired. Place cut biscuits in hot pan, mopping up olive oil in botton of pan to brush on top of bicuits. Not to worry if you didn't add enough extra, just pour some in a bowl. Once tops are coated with olive oil, sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until lightly browned on top. Remove from oven and serve hot. Maybe split and serve with gravy! Or just butter and eat them.
