I use butter in this recipe for the shortening. These are great for lunch or dinner and, if you leave out the ground mustard, I think they'd be great for breakfast! Leftovers are best if toasted.

1/2 ccornmeal

2 1/2 tspbaking powder

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 tspground mustard

1/2 cshortening

1/2 ccheddar cheese, shredded

1 cmilk
How To Make cornmeal drop biscuits

1In a bowl, combine the first five ingredients; cut in shortening until crumbly.

2Stir in cheese and milk just until moistened.

3Drop by 1/4 cupfuls 2 inches apart onto a greased baking sheet.

4Bake at 375 for 26-28 minutes or until golden brown.
