Since moving to the west, I can no longer have my favorite chicken and biscuits from Bojangles. Even if you have never tried the restaurant, this is just a good biscuit recipe.

2 cself rising flour. white lily if you can find it

2 tspbaking powder

2 tspconfectioners' sugar

1/2 ccrisco vegetable shortening

1 1/2 cbuttermilk

1/4 cbutter, melted
How To Make bojangles style biscuits

1Preheat oven to 450 Stir together the flour, sugar, and baking powder

2Cut the shortening into the flour mixture until pieces are about the size of grains of rice. Stir in buttermilk.

3knead a few times, then roll out on floured board or counter top to 3/4 inch thickness. Be careful not to work dough too much, or add too much flour, or you'll end up with dry biscuits.

4Cut with an over sized biscuit cutter (about 3 inches). Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake about 12 minutes until golden brown and not doughy in the center. Brush with the melted butter when you take them out of the oven.
