I got this recipe when I lived in South Carolina. They're to make a day ahead and they also freeze well.

Ingredients For angel biscuits

  • 1 pkg
    yeast
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 5 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    salt

How To Make angel biscuits

  • 1
    Dissolve yeast in water.
  • 2
    Combine dry ingredients and cut in shortening.
  • 3
    Add yeast and buttermilk. Mix thoroughly. Refrigerate overnight.

    Roll dough on floured surface. Cut into biscuits. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 - 12 minutes.
