2 cans (21 0z each) of blackberry pie filling OR
1.5 pounds (about 5 cups) blackberries, fresh or frozen
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 cups yellow cake mix (white cake also works)
