Makes 2 dozen cookies. Mom used this recipe before 1967 along with the frosting for cut outs.

1/2 cmargarine

1/2 csugar

1/2 tspbaking soda dissolved in 2 tsp milk

1 lgegg

1/2 tspvanilla

1 pinchsalt

2 1/2 cflour

1 Tbspcocoa(optional for chocolate cookies only)
How To Make cut out cookies

1Cream margarine and sugar, beat in egg. Add baking soda/milk, vanilla, salt and flour. Chill. To speed it up, place dough in freezer for 15 minutes

2Roll dough on unfloured board, use no flour on rolling pin to 1/8" thickness Dip cutter in flour before cutting out cookies

3Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes Cool. Frost and decorate
